Laser Treatments

Using a laser to remove a tattoo is another popular option to get rid of an unwanted tattoo. This tattoo removal option involves using a laser to break up the ink pigments located in the deep layers of skin.

While many people believe that they can erase their tattoo after one visit, in reality it will take multiple treatments for a substantial difference to appear.

While this is a very effective and proven way to get rid of an unwanted tattoo, there are some drawbacks to choosing this tattoo removal method. For instance, using a laser treatment is often times very painful. This is due to the fact that the laser is extremely hot and essentially burns through the skin to reach the tattoo. According to our research, many of those that opt for using a laser to remove their tattoo report feeling more pain than when they first received the tattoo.

Another drawback to using a laser treatment is that it can sometimes create additional trauma and scarring although newer laser are less likely to do so.

Finally, the biggest difference in tattoo removal options such as deciding on a laser treatment or using a topical tattoo removal cream or gel is cost. The final cost for using a laser treatment can easily exceed $2500, and is sometimes reported to cost upwards of $10,000 for larger, more intricate tattoos. For this reason, many of those with unwanted tattoos first choose to use a topical solution prior to starting laser treatments.
